Setting out on a new endeavor, Ricky Fly founded Fly Timber Company in 1981 in Coffeeville, MS. At the time, his business primarily consisted of running a logging crew. Investing in highly efficient industrial logging equipment as it came on the market, Ricky was a pioneer in the timber industry. In 1983, he opened his first office in Grenada, MS. It was temporarily relocated to Oakland for a short time until 1987 when it was permanently relocated to our present day site in Grenada.
When the economy began failing and the local hardwood sawmills began closing their doors, Ricky made a business decision to expand his operations to include a hardwood sawmill as he no longer had anywhere to sell his logs. The operation began with a small mulching system and sawmill located at D&B Materials in Oakland, MS. His dreams and goals continued expanding throughout the years and was fully realized when he recently built Fly Tie & Lumber in Grenada, MS, approximately half a mile from the corporate office.
With over 30 years in the business, he is now well-known as an industry leading professional in the production of hardwood pulpwood, lumber, railroad ties, industrial timbers, cants, and mulch.
